Quick Answer
Shenzhen transportation is convenient: metro covers the entire city, taxis are affordable, and the airport is 30-45 minutes from downtown. You only need to know three things: how to take the metro, which app to use for taxis, and how to get out of the airport.
Airport to Downtown
Shenzhen Bao'an Airport (SZX) to major hospital areas:
| Destination | Method | Time | Cost |
|---|---|---|---|
| Futian District (most international hospitals) | Metro Line 11 → transfer | 35-45 min | ¥7-10 |
| Futian District | DiDi taxi | 40-50 min | Off-peak ¥80-130, peak ¥120-180 |
| Luohu District | Metro → transfer | 50-65 min | ¥8-10 |
| Luohu District | DiDi taxi | 40-50 min | Off-peak ¥100-150, peak surcharge applies |
How to Get Out of the Airport
- Follow the 'Metro' signs to the airport metro station
- Buy a ticket: Alipay/WeChat QR code, or single-journey ticket from vending machine
- Take Line 11 (toward Futian) → transfer at Chegongmiao or Futian Station to your destination
Without a Chinese phone number: Download 'DiDi Rider' (international version) from App Store/Google Play — no Chinese number needed. Or I can arrange a ride for you (cost self-pay).
Night arrival tip: Metro last train from airport to Futian is around 00:02. After 23:00, taxi fares include night surcharge (+30%), and airport taxis may charge extra ¥15. Contact me in advance for airport pickup if your flight arrives late.
